Last minute entry to Machu Picchu. Starting this August 2025, the way you can purchase last-minute Machu Picchu tickets will change. The Peruvian Ministry of Culture will continue to sell the 1,000 tickets in the town of Machu Picchu (also known as Aguas Calientes). To this end, it has set up five ticket windows that will speed up the process of purchasing your ticket and eliminate the pre-ticket requirement, which had been causing great confusion and disorder.

With this new regulation, you can purchase your tickets to Machu Picchu at the last minute, but you’ll have to wait in line and be seen. Remember that you can purchase your tickets in person and they will give you tickets for the following day, as long as there aren’t many tourists looking for last-minute tickets. Otherwise, you’ll have to keep waiting in line to get your tickets for subsequent days.
The Peruvian Ministry of Culture’s office hours at Machu Picchu Town are from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and is located to the left of the Inca Plaza.

It is recommended that you book your trip to Machu Picchu in advance to avoid waiting in long, tiring and exhausting lines. Remember that last-minute purchases are subject to availability, so you must allow time and spend a night in Aguas Calientes or more.
